Our Kommunity Kitaan serves as a safe, critical, and caring space for our community members and partners to have fun, catch-up on each other, and raise action points for the community.

At the same time, structured learning sessions are conducted where we sharpen our feminist critical lens on emerging and persistent gender issues in media and society-at-large. We invite partners, allies, and advocates in this participatory gathering where everyone could give their reflections on the topic and the discussion.

Through these small gatherings, we hope to cultivate our community and contribute to feminist re-imaginations and re-workings of media and media systems, taking note of this reminder by feminist media scholar Linda Steiner:

“Given feminism’s transformative ambitions, more work is necessary in order to develop theories, concepts, and language that are meaningful to policy makers and to citizens and link feminist media scholars and activists in their efforts to “empower” people to understand, consider, assess and critique the media content they produce and/or consume in ways that make for greater social justice and minimize unfair discriminations”.
