How to render development interventions into popular media content?

SHE Project Media Production

33 creative workshops. 5 sites around the Philippines. 1 final showcase.

For three (3) years (2021-2023), FemmeLab will join UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies as they embark on an ambitious mission to use creative modalities such as dance, visual art, and literary arts “to foster a broader, deeper, and holistic understanding of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), particularly key concepts such as gender-based violence (GBV) and women’s bodily autonomy in women and men” in the country. The project is part of the SHE (Sexual Health and Empowerment) initiative of OXFAM Philippines.

FemmeLab’s two major tasks for the project include:

  • the production of short video highlights from the creative workshops; and
  • the translation of research findings into popular media content such as infographics and video explainers.

These assignments require not only media expertise, but also, a deep understanding of gender issues such as SRHR, something that is unique to FemmeLab.

Our media outputs are envisioned to contribute to the project goal of widening the constituency of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) advocacy through the dissemination of accessible knowledge products to SHE Project partners, women’s rights organizations, and allies from the women and development circles.
